Hey and welcome to my Crabitat progress post.

See my progress

Keep up with my crabs

See recent photos of my Crabitat

MY PROGRESS
So far with my crabitat I have;
-Priced up all the items need to keep my crabitat humid, warm, spacious and enjoyful for my crabs. The total cost was £107.53 which won't take me long to gather up over the weeks. ( I have attached a Word Doc of the costing please inform me if I need to add or upgrade some of the items. )
-Researched for days on how to care for my crabitat and crabs. I have also checked out a couple of books on hermit crab Anatomy. Whilst reading the books I have gained the knowledge of what to feed my hermits, how to keep them clean, how to keep my hermits healthy and how to make their lifes happy and loving.

MY CRABS
I do not yet have any crabbies but in the very near future I am hoping to own 3 or more hermits in my tank. I will start of fairly basic with a 10 gallon tank ( x2 one for molters ) and 3 PP's then hopfuly upgrade to a 20/30 gallon tank by the end of this year.

PHOTOS
( Will be posted as comments or I will directly put them on this post with either links or actual footage )
Just saying a quick introduction and hello,
I absolutly love hermit crabs and I would love to care for some in the near future. At first I would care for two or three PP's in my tank then move onto a bigger tank and get some more PP's then in later terms I would possibly get an Ecudorian or two.

About me, I was born and raised on the small island of Jersey then at the age of 11 me and my family ( Mum, Dad, and two younger siblings ) moved to New Zealand. We lived in NZ for a couple of years but didn't think it was for us. After a big debate of where to move to we chose Glastonbury, Summerset. As soon as we have settled I will be buying and setting up my Crabitat and hope to buy some hermits later on.

Well I hadn't seen her shell in so long, I thought she changed shells and her shell got buried( I have 2 others around her size) and I was deep cleaning today and found her, I think her molting tunnel got collapsed, she dug down shollowly in the part where the extra shells are. she's got dirt on her, still very soft and her exo is still there, she doesn't smell dead, so I put her back on her exo and put a cocohut over her and left her alone.
This has never happened to me and I feel so terrible=( any advice is welcome. I know the chances aren't in her favor, but I'm hoping with all my heart she makes it.

They were little brown things and they had gotten in all my dry food Guests cannot see images in posts. Please register by clicking here to see images.
I had emptied the bags of food onto a sheet on my bed so had to wash the sheet as well as there was a massive pile of the bugs on there Guests cannot see images in posts.
As you all know our family are big animal lovers, this evening our neighbours daughter came round to ask us for some help some local children had brought a rabbit to her that they had caught on the local field, it's a cute black rabbit (not a wild rabbit) no older than 6 months, it was the only one of 3 rabbits running loose that they could catch, it is literally skin and bone and absolutely freezing, we popped it in a box with a pile of hay and a dish of rabbit food and a bottle of water, it's warmed up now but still not eating or drinking, it's bottom doesn't look too healthy either, we rang a local rescue centre and they told us to ring the RSPCA, an officer is coming out in the next hour to collect it as we don't think it will survive the night if it's not seen by someone with veterinary experience.

Why do people get animals and then just let them loose in weather like this rather than try and find them a new home. Guests cannot see images in posts.
Only just got round to doing this post! we keep 3 bearded dragons who we thought were all female, turns out they might not be but we know for sure one is haha! my dad came home from work to find Firefly our biggest beardie laying eggs! he was totally unprepared for what happened, and so after some quick research he decided to take them to a pet shop who would be able to incubate them. Unfortunatley, he left them in overnight (from wrong info) and they got a bit damaged, so the eggs caved in on themself a little and werent good to keep. she laid about 15 eggs.
but he's been told that within 20 days she will lay her next clutch( as apparantly they can lay up to 40 eggs in different clutches), this time we are prepared to incubate them ourselves!!! so we might have baby beardies soon!
anyway i grabbed a quick photo to show you guys the eggs Guests cannot see images in posts. Please register by clicking here to see images.
Just wanted to let you know that i introduced Tiny back to tank last night. Nearly everyone dug underground again except one hermie, so i took this as my oppurtinity to introduce her when it was a bit quieter in there! Annnnnnnd................ Shes loving it!!! she was sitting in the salt water for a while, then climbed the doors (first time shes actually climbed since i got her!!) she was holding and climbing the apple twig, and just having a good exploration of the home shes never had a chance to see yet!
So fingers crossed she keeps loving it, now that since late august/early september( cant remember) she has finally settled in and that her BP will grow back soon!!
