HI Guys!! over recent weeks it has been brought to our attention that people are being advised to keep Hermits in plastic critter keeper type tats or improvising with plastic boxes - please be aware this is not a recommended method for housing hermits as there are HUGE difficulties maintaining humidity and adequately heating these types of containers - frustratingly there is a Hermie specific starter kit that has a plastic critter carrier in for housing on the market - My daughter was bought one when her uncle bought her her hermits so i know first hand the difficulty these can present! left in these conditions too long, can and will impact on your hermits health and well being in the long term.
Plastic critter carriers are really only suitable for transportation purposes at best, from a to b in good weather conditions and with the lids adequately covered in order to not loose humidity! glass tats are the only recommended environment that you can heat and maintain humidity appropriately. If you cannot afford new, check out local freecycle services, ebay, preloved, local paper for sale ads. loot etc or even your local pet shop ( they sometimes sell off fish tanks that are no longer water tight cheaply) |
