Finally!
Hello,

Well a couple of days ago I ordered 15 seeds of Venus fly traps ( Dionaea Muscipula) for about £2.50. I got 3 plastic cup filled one with peat moss which is suitable for VFT's as it doesnt conatin any nutrient value, 2nd cup with peat moss and perlite. Perlite helps with drainage. And the 3rd cup with just RO water ( Reverse Osmosis ). When I opened the pack there was 39 seeds!!! Wohoo!! They are the size of a full stop like the one here . I put a small heat mat at the bottom and a CFL ( compact fluorescent light ) bulb. The temps are between 24-25C and the humidity 70%-80%.And they need light at leats 14 hours a day for succesful germination. They should take about 2 weeks to germinate. And tommorow the Mimosa seeds ( sensitive plant) which when touched curl, Should arrive and I ordred 60 seeds just for £1.99.

Thanks,

HCK

Wow, cool. You really know your stuff when it comes to exotic pets and plants (thinking about the fire bellied newt thread too).

The only thing I know about veus fly traps is to not set them off for fun, without some food in there, or they can die.

The Mimosa plant sounds cool though!

RE: Finally!
Oh yeah - a photo diary, a new picture every month (how fast do they grow, is that too far apart?). We can track their progress.

I've seen some big venus fly traps that eat frogs! I'll look forward to that stage! Guests cannot see images in posts. Please register by clicking here to see images.
