hi moonchild!
i have some driftwood in my tank that is intended to be in aquariums, i noticed it began to show signs of mould after about a couple of months of it being in there, i think from misting the crabitat, i took it out as soon as i saw it and boiled it in a pan for over half an hour and left it to dry, i noticed it leached a lot of colour from the wood as it boiled, its been back in for a few months now and no sign of any mould returning!
i have since made sure that anything i put in the tank gets boiled first and have not had any more probs!
hope that helps!

Hiya Moonchild, moulds are very dangerous, if you do like dee said you can't go wrong, you can also microwave any wood too but make sure its dry before you do Guests cannot see images in posts. Please register by clicking here to see images.

ALERT!!!!!
i have just pondored on what i wrote last night re the aquatic driftwood i have in the tank so i have just been over and eased it out, hoping to god the moulters were not under it, (they werent) BUT what i have discovered are traces of mould regrowthGuests cannot see images in posts. I have now decided to discard this wood for good, i am not prepared to risk mould growth in between tank cleans so its waiting to go in the bin - i am trying to decide if re boiling it and putting in the fish tank for them might be ok, as its meant for water but to be honest am too cross with it for going mouldy again to even want it in the house!!!!
i am now fed up, i like the look of wood in the tank but i am not having that!!!, do branches and wood for reptiles go mouldy??? what about choya wood????
