I had read before that diet has a lot to do with colouring so i decided to see how true this was!

I have been feeding my crabs a verity of dried flowers from abcrab store and also fresh viola leaves and dandelions and i have 3 crabs that have definatly had a colour change!!

Here is Boo when i got him he is quite a dark grey colour ...he came up from his moult a couple of weeks ago and is now has blue BP and legs

and Boo since he moulted
hopefully the blue will show in the photo but there is no mistaking his colour in natural light! i think you can really notice the colour change!

and killer a dark grey crab is still dark grey but the ends of his legs have now gone blue aswell!! but his colour change was difficult to capture on camera as he wouldnt stay inside his shell i think you can just about see the blue on his BP (he was also the crab that was naked underground a few weeks ago that i posted pics of!)

Not all of ours will eat the dried flowers, but we have a Hermie called blue who pigs out when ever the flowers go in. guess why hes called blue? yes you guest it hes blue in colour.

Thanks Zippy for that we'll be very interested to see if anyone else has noticed this Guests cannot see images in posts. Please register by clicking here to see images.
oo might be something i shall try after the tank is tidied again! x
Love the blue coloring, mine get a mixture of Ab-Crab foods they love the flakes and powders so I've not noticed any color change.
Carrots make them a orange tinge.
Thats very interesting Zippy, mine are like Mrs T's tho they don't all like the flowers. I do put a lot in with my beetles tho so I hope they don't turn blue Guests cannot see images in posts. Please register by clicking here to see images.
i wouldnt say all of mine like flowers either but as the dried flowers are crispy you can rub them between your fingers over the food and that way they gets some wether they want to or not loL!!

i found fresh viola flowers are a big hit... no one has turned those down and also they loved the dandylions i think dried flowers are something they get used to as mine didnt seem that keen at first but because i have been putting in a different dried or fresh flower each day they have grown to like them

Im wondering if i continue doing this the ones with blue legs will end up with more of their bodys blue or if it will just stay as it is on their legs ....it really is a lovely colour in natural light Guests cannot see images in posts. Please register by clicking here to see images.
